Transitioning to Management
In a tightening marketplace for technical people, the ability to attract and retain high quality people is critical. Research says that loyalty and commitment to a company are highest when a person's immediate manager is good at developing them and ensuring that their professional goals mesh with the company vision. Good technical people won't work for ineffective managers.
High performers who are thinking about moving into management or who have just moved need a heightened awareness of what the new role entails, especially the parts relating to people, politics and paper. They need to better understand the potential pitfalls and opportunities and better understand what they are good at and what they need to work on in order to be effective.
The Transitions workshop allows you to take people with good technical expertise, point them in the direction of what it takes to be successful on the people and business sides, and help them make good decisions about their professional futures.
